Kirkham Hearing Solutions

Kirkham Hearing Solutions all started as an idea in Lethbridge with my Dad and sister and they both worked as practitioners together, one in Lethbridge and one in Edmonton working for the same gentleman.

This gentleman decided to sell his practice to Listen Up which is major corporation known today as Hearing Life. My Dad was 50% owner of the company, so he had a non comp that said if he wanted to start another company or work for someone else, he had to move.

I was in school for Civil Engineering, and I didn’t have any surveying jobs during the summer, so I did what I always wanted to do and became a sandwich artist at Subway for the summer, but my Dad needed a receptionist at his clinic and offered to pay me more money to come over and just relieve that duty for the summer before heading back into school.

During my residence there I found that I really loved the atmosphere, instant gratification that came with helping people hear and the feeling that it gave me. My Dad offered to start up a clinic in Calgary with him, my mom, my sister and I and we all came to the right decision to make the big move and start Kirkham Hearing in Oakridge and Whitehorn.

During the first year of opening, we all became very close in a small apartment with all of us together nice and cozy, which we learned later in the year that it just wasn’t going to work so they bought a house together and so did Nikki and I. Things progressed and we all built up the company with service and helping everyone who walked through the door and it became very successful over the next 12 years.

At that time, my mom and dad wanted to go on a mission for their church and be the grandparents that they always wanted to be so retirement was soon.

Long story short my dad sold the company to HearingLife, and we worked for them for a bit, but I decided that it wasn’t the right path for me, so I stared my own clinic KIRKYZ ACOUSTIX and haven’t looked back and still provide the same service that Kirkham Hearing Solutions delivered and has been very successful ever since the move over.
